Yup, I coach. And while there is no specific niche definition other than “people who want to coach with me that I want to coach,” there are some topics I truly enjoy coaching around.
First, I love coaching people on finding and being their unique self. Then I like to help them leverage that uniqueness toward the success that matters most to them. It matters less to me what you’re after than whether or not you’re using your uniqueness to optimal effect. I have boundaries. I’m not interested in coaching people to use their uniqueness to become criminals, despots or perform illegal/immoral actions.
Secondly, I love coaching people on becoming the quintessence of leadership and using the being/doing of that essence to powerfully and supportively influence the people they lead. I believe in the notion of leaders developing leaders instead of parenting the people in their workplace.
Thirdly, I love coaching people to approach life as a game. It’s all a game to me and the key is to masterfully play it in ways that are a fit for you. I believe there’s a game out there that you’re uniquely built 4 even if it’s not apparent as yet. I also believe that FUN is the order of the day and we succeed with much less effort when we’re playing versus suffering.
I have all sorts of tools and frameworks that I use and keep encountering new ones in my ongoing quest to support those I get the privilege of serving as coach.
As for lengths of coaching engagements, well it depends. I don’t hold a contract to coach someone when they no longer want to be coached. I also don’t believe in a whole lot of “one off” coaching as I’m aware that things need some time to integrate. It does, at times, though work.
I make two promises to everyone I work with.
- I promise to deliver the best coaching I know how to deliver
- I promise to keep upgrading my coaching so I can deliver on the first promise
From there on out, results are up to you. I could deliver great coaching and you might do nothing with it, and I could deliver average coaching and you might do great things with it. And over my career I’ve seen both.
